I think they probably do, but the ridiculousness of it always amuses me....I feel like a bit of a dunce, but what does 'special' mean these days.....? Is it a euphemism for gullible?

I got nothing,,,,I musn't be special enough......

The scary thing is some people do fall for these things and get absolutely sucked in, I think 60 minutes did a segment on one of these scams coming out of Nigeria......and theRussian Mob were behind a few so watch your back....

Hi Louie

I know, I was thinking the same thing. They really tug on the heart strings (to use a cliché) and I can imagine some people falling for it and that's awful.

And I wouldn't worry about being special in this sense

Hi Tracy, you've got me going through my spam folder now....I have no idea what the point of this email below is....not asking for anything..

Hi Louie...a friend of mine got sucked in by a supposed Canadian Lottery...had to send money to access her prize...so yes some people are desperate and naive enough to believe...unfortunately

Vision Airships Global Expansion!

BANGKOK, THAILAND, Jul 09, 2007 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Vision
Airships Inc. (PINKSHEETS: VPSN) -- The company wishes to announce that
it has finalized arrangements for funding for its global expansion.

Vision Airships is set to become a worldwide operator of blimps used for
advertising around the world. As the advertising market gets more
crowded in conventional mediums -- the use of alternative forms of
advertising is gaining more and more traction -- this is where Vision
Airships comes in and supplies the end to end solution to major
advertisers worldwide with its unique form of alternative displays. The
size of the market worldwide will support 24 airships which would bring
in approximately $400,000,000 annually.

Check out the news and get on VPSN first thing Wednesday!

I received something similar a while back.

Just this week I received an email advising me that there was a pre-paid atm card for me, with $1.2M credit on it. I just had to call a number to arrange to pick it up.

Damn, I hope I haven't lost the number. I could use that $1.2M!!

Your deal sounds fantastic. I'm a bit short of the funds I need to set up an anti-SPAM company. Is there any chance you could give me 15% you scabby bitch?

May Satan curse you and all your cohorts.

pls email me back and we can make romance and meet soon.

How bout that, hahhh? A young, calm and slender blonde wants to meet me!!

Too bad I'm not a lesbian. I would definitely hit that otherwise.

Tracy,

Nup. It's the best way of getting rid of them. They're preying on the elderly mainly - those who are new to the net. And let's face it. There's a new batch of those every week. If they suspect you know what they're up to, they tend to leave you alone. It's bully-syndrome. Bully's only pick on cowards. Stand up to them. They cower and run away.

What can they do to you? They don't have any details about you whatsoever other than your web address. They remind me of the type of anonymous bloggers who threaten other bloggers via text. Wooo. How scary is that?
