Possible Worlds - A review

Last night was the Opening night at the Canadian Film Festival at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington. The opening film was the Australian premiere of Familia, a Quebec drama. Award winning director Louise Archambault flew to Sydney to introduce the film to local audiences. Here is a synopsis:
This award-winning, thought provoking drama features superb peformances and a knock-out ending.Free-spirited aerobics instructor Michele decides to leave her boyfriend and gambling debts behind and run away to California to start a new life with her teenage daughter. They only make it as far as the home of childhood friend Janine. Janine has a teenage daughter of her own and seems to be living the suburban dream. The very different women are bound to clash, yet they may have more in common than they think.
Seamlessly weaving humour and deeply affecting drama, the tightly-scripted Familia is an intense and insightful look at the struggle for identity within the context of the disfunctional family.
Unfortunately I'm sick and wasn't able to go last night as planned, so I'm hoping that someone might've gone and could tell me about it.....
