Mind the gap

Mind the gap

Yep, I'm back in the land of snail-pace tube travel and sweaty armpits pressed too closely to my nose.

On the flight over I voluntarily watched films that I would normally never go near...Baby Mama and Angus, Thongs and Snogging. My only excuse was that I was exhausted and couldn't give an independent, venturesome film the attention it would need. I can't even say that a flight attendant adjusted my belt so tightly that my arm ricocheted forward and pressed the wrong button. Nope, it was my choice. But: 'tis better to not watch, than to watch crappily.'

To counteract my traitorous behaviour, I have since watched Million Dollar Baby and Burn after Reading.

I really like that philosphy,

'tis better to not watch, than to watch crappily.'

Thanks, Kleo!

I think it could be modified to apply to many areas of life don't you?

Hi Tracy,

Having come from that part of the world, and not been able to get back now for over 10 years, I can honestly say how wonderful for you!

Enjoy every last Galaxy and Tizer you can find.

Nicely said! If I ever ended up watching a bad movie I have to hurry and watch another one - a decent one - to make up for that.

Hi Ruby

For the first two weeks it was work for my husband and play for me. Now it's play for both of us...not a bad deal at all!!

Hi Ash

I was just thinking of you as we just had lunch on Brighton Pier. It's bitterly cold, 7 degrees but lots of fun.

I'll courier that Irishman over to you as soon as I can. We head over there tomorrow.

Good to see you!!

Hi Lilla

I'm also from this colder part of the world and it's brilliant being back (apart from those sweaty armpits). I'm living on a stable diet of chips, chocolate and Walkers cheese and onion crisps. I'll probably look like a Teletubby when I get home but it's worth it.

Hope you're well!!

Hi Cass

Thanks for popping over. I know what you mean, a good film is needed to counteract a dodgy one. That's one of my life's philosophies.

Byee!!

Hey Trace!

Hope you followed those flicks up with a couple of trashy novels!

Feel no shame my friend - you are on holidays, it's well beyond your power.

Keep having fun!

Enjoy yourself Tracey!!! What is it about air travel that entices us to watch the crappiest of movies???

Hi Mich

How are you? I started off with a couple of Johnathan Coe books and moved into a contemporary light-hearted fiction one by Jill Mansell (i.e fluff).

For some strange reason crappy magazines kept falling in my way so it was only polite to read them.

Was lots of fun!!

Hi Kylie

I like your new pic!

Yeppie, air travel seems to turn my brain into mush, I watched Mama Mia on the way home and it was the most appalling piece of rhubarb I've seen in ages. I only watched it to solidify my disbelief. Eeek.

Hope you're well!!

Hi Trace de Face,

admit it... you LOVED Mamma Mia!!! tee hee!

personally, I find watching, for instance, low brow moron comedy rather cathartic and brain relaxing, in that it induces an hypnotic coma like intellectual apoplexy... ummm.. maybe that is my usual state anyway.... sigh..

Anyhoo, how fab you got back to Ole Blighty!!

soooo jealous... you must post on your exploits there!

cheers

Hi Foggy

How are you? Hope you're well.

I know what you mean, I also like a bit of fluff at times for some escapism but Mama Mia was rotten. I wrote a review afterwards, well it's actually more of a rant and I'm not sure I should share it with anyone!

Yes, England was great, apart from the daily weather range of 3-9 degrees. But it didn't rain much so I shouldn't really complain.

Thanks for popping in!!
