Possible Worlds Canadian Film Festival 2008
November 25th 2008 21:28
The rolling around of the Possible Worlds festival each year reminds me how fast time plods along. Especially this year...I can’t believe it’s already time for the mass marketing frenzy of Christmas. Anyway, enough of my blabbering, I should get back to the facts.
It starts tomorrow Thursday 27th November and runs until 2nd December. This year most of the films are shown at the Dendy Opera Quays. For the first two years the historic Chauvel in Paddington was the main cinema. Although I will miss the atmosphere of the Chauvel, I’m pleased about the experience of seeing films at Opera Quays. Whenever I leave there, I feel the honour of two events colliding: seeing a film and being back in the world with its backdrop of glistening water and sky.
Matt Ravier, artistic director of Possible Worlds, states: “Canadian cinema is enjoying a renaissance right now as a hip, authentic alternative to Hollywood cinema. From hilarious comedies to thought-provoking drama, from action blockbusters to political documentaries, the red hot line-up includes something for everyone.”
