Somehow we are nearly at the end of 2006.....so which films have stayed in your mind?
December 17th 2006 23:41
I'm not going to lament about where the year has gone; I'm simply going to accept this natural occurrence as a fact. The year is nearly over, a new year is about to start.
So this leads me to again ponder how movies and the meaning of life are linked.
Which films have stayed with you in 2006? If you had to name some significant 2006 films, which would they be?
I think mine would be:
Brokeback Mountain
Capote
Candy
Friends with money
The Cave of theYellow Dog
Little Miss Sunshine
Match Point
The Departed
The Passenger
Mysterious Skin
Your choices don’t have to be profound, just important to you. They might be films you hated. If you’d like to tell me why, I’d love to hear. Some of mine have links to posts that I've written about them.
If you can’t remember many films, have a look on the At The Movies website.
Have fun!!

Ah yes, CRAZY. I didn't get to see that, but I remember you saying how good it was. Yes, I really liked The Departed too. I also didn't see A Prairie Home Companion, will catch that one on DVD.

Ah you got to see Cave of the Yellow Dog - was it good? I had tickets and then never got the chance to go into the city to see it.
hhhhmmmm hard question - my current favourite movie is "Somewhere in the Sun" and some favourites for the year were "A Good Year", "The Lake House" and "Charlotte`s Web".
Ah so many to choose and loads I have forgotten I bet! Now I am going to be up all night thinking about it all!
Have a good one!

The Cave of the Yellow Dog was really good, here's my post on it.
I haven't seen those ones you mentioned, Ash, I might look them up and see what they're about.

Thanks for your comment. I didn't see Memoires of a Geisha and I heard such mixed reviews of it. I still want to see it though. You enjoyed it? What film do you think you'll see on Friday? There's a few interesting ones out now...

I looked up those films that you mentioned that I hadn't heard of. I couldn't find any info on Somewhere in the Sun, is it a film or a series? Intriguing...
Ah yes, I had heard of A Good Year, that's the one with Russell Crowe? I thought of seeing that when I felt like seeing some easy-to-watch but I saw The Devil Wears Prada instead which I didn't really like...you liked A Good Year a lot? I almost got The Lakehouse DVD the other day but chose the Unbearable Lightness of Being instead. Completely different genre, but very good film.
Thanks for your comments,
