The next step

May 26th 2011 05:30

As you might’ve noticed, since having my first baby almost two years ago, both my movie habits and blog upkeep have been dramatically affected. In fact, you could say, sadly, my blog has been somewhat neglected. It’s a pity but seems to be a part of motherhood (and life in general), that sometimes something has to give. And really, it’s OK. It doesn’t mean I no longer love films or I no longer care about writing, it simply means that life has changed and for the time being, it’s hard to do it all. My zest is still there, as well as my intentions but for many reasons such as a basic lack of time, lack of brain power and some days, general oomph, the page stays empty. Hence, my blog remains quite untouched. I still see films thanks to downloads, DVDs and cinemas, but often the opportunity to sit and write is scarce.

So, just days away from my next reproduction experience, it would be easy to wonder if I can keep this blog going at all. Well, I’m going to try. It’ll be infrequent, short but hopefully still sort of sweet. And that’ll do for me.

Glad to hear you're still gonna put pen to paper, as they say ... I'm amazed you didn't lose the blog to "inactivity"

Hi Tracy, as you've already said it's just how things tend to go when you're a mum - family will always come before hobbies, and really who would want it any other way?

I'm going to be in a similar place myself pretty soon (less than 3 weeks until my first is due - getting seriously impatient and excited now!!) and expect that my blogging will fall by the wayside as a result. But such is life! To be honest I really couldn't care less, because my entire world is going to be changed forever and I won't want to miss a minute of it.

As long as you write enough to keep your blog (and therefore your earnings) going, I wouldn't think too much of it. There's plenty of great material here from your past entries to keep people happy. Best of luck with baby number two Tracy! Hoping it all goes well for you.

Hi Tracy,
Great news about baby #2...but I do know what you mean about no longer having the time to write! I had my second one in October (two years and one day after the first baby) and barely have time to brush my teeth these days, let alone blog!

Anyway I'm sure time will become more plentiful down the track, and you/we can always come back to it then.

Best of luck!

Hope all went well, Trace!

Can't believe it's two years since your first...

I'm struggling to get around the Orb as much as I used to as well, and don't even have a good excuse like motherhood - but am glad you're going to keep on keeping on! When I do get here I like to see what you've been up to!

Hi Bryn,

Yes, I know. It's amazing I've managed to keep it as I've had many, many close shaves. And another one is looming...

Thanks for your encouragement, JW.

How are you going? I hope all is going well and you and baby are well. I imagine things are pretty hectic for you too. Good luck with it all,

Tracy

Hi Carmen,

How are you?! It's great to see you again.

Yes, I know what you mean. Some days I'm lucky to get out of my pyjamas let alone use my brain on the computer. I'm sure I'll get there one day and you will too.

I hope all is going well for you, thanks for popping in.

Hi Mich,

How are things with you? Hope things are going well. I thought of you yesterday as I voluntarily watched Sex and the City 2 again. My excuse is that I was feeding and couldn't move...last time I was trapped on a plane. Both valid reasons I feel

Great to see you!!

Hey Trace!

Yes all is well for me and sounds like all is well for you too! (Apart from the unfortunate SATC 2 incident, but yes I'll grant you that you were once again trapped!)

Hi Mich,

Glad all is well with you and you agree with me about my SATC situations!

Hey Tracy, hectic is definitely the word for it! My daughter is a month old today and doing really well, I'm lucky if I get on the computer twice a week now though! It's such a full on experience but I love her to bits. How's life with bubs #2 going?

Hi JW,

I know what you mean about getting to the computer quite rarely! Things are going well here too, thanks. But life is very, very busy! But magical too, I love it. Glad you're both well.

Tracy
