What I want

February 16th 2007 03:56

To travel to far-off lands,
Socialise with unknown people.
Drink vodka and shriek with laughter,
Talk complete rubbish, collapsing in a heap of discarded clothes.
Cinema visits and endless coffee afterwards,
Talking like you might never stop.
Eat chocolate without guilt,
Forgetting it might expand your waistline.
Watch unrealistic soap operas.
Listen to deafening music incessantly,
Ferociously sing off-key in the car.
Not exercising, it’s too cruel.
Watch foreign films without being distracted by the subtitles,
Sample foreign foods without having a biological reaction,
Dance like you just don’t care.
See bands and scream endlessly,
Abandon what others thing of you.
Not listen to the news and current affairs
They are simply depressing.
Read sociologically-inaccurate magazines and enjoy them,
Ignore the advice of others,
Doing what I want.

Hello Ash

Thanks for your compliments and for dropping in as usual, hope you are well

I tend to write poetry in fits and spurts. I wrote this one a while ago but just made some adjustments lately. This is my almost rebellious poem....it reminds me to be myself.

Yes, I loved the pic too

Hi Dusk

Great to see you. How are you?

Thank-you for what you said. I have to admit that this piece makes me smile and reminds me it's OK to be me. And like I said to kayzzz, it's great to let loose sometimes....maybe more often in fact!!

Thanks for your words,

Trace xx

Hello Yoda

There's much to be said for simplicity isn't there? It's good to be reminded what it's all about sometimes.....

Best wishes,

Tracy

Tracy ...

My favourite line by far?:

Talk complete rubbish, collapsing in a heap of discarded clothes.

My second favourite line?:

Ignore the advice of others

Why is that my second favourite line? ... To quote my grandmother verbatim; "I've forgotten more than they'll ever learn." ...

Have to go ... I have a real art exhibition to attend ... where the artists talk sense not non-sense ... *

Hey David

Thanks for telling me which lines you liked....I have done this line:

Talk complete rubbish, collapsing in a heap of discarded clothes.

many times in my younger years......

I still talk complete rubbish sometimes, but am not so likely to collapse into a pile of clothes, I'm now mature enough to find my bed....

Yes, sometimes I think it is good to ignore and question advice/opinions.... whether it's from family, the media, friends...etc..I prefer to choose the advice I listen to, after all it is subjective and then make up my mind. And on a more cynical note, people can have their own agenda.....but I'll leave that thought....this is my tongue-in-cheek-almost-rebell ious-chirpy post.

Sounds like your grandmother was a wise woman....

Enjoy the art...

Hi Tracy,

...thanks for a wonderful, uplifting jaunt through your ideals I've been accused of being an idealist all my life, by some ... I am lucky to already be living some of the things you mention, but am sure I am missing a few of my own more pleasurable things, too...

Your post here has made me think of what I would add to mine and I will attempt to do so now ... perhaps even post it?

Great fun even if I don't, thanks...

Hello Lilla

Great to see you as always. Yes, it is a bit like a playful jaunt isn't it? I don't do these things all the time (what a pity), but they certainly are there when I want to rid myself of some my shoulds...eg I should work more, I should do that better, etc etc.

It would be great if you wrote something on yours, I'd love to read that.

Something is up with my Orble - I could have sworn I was subscribed to your email list! Well, I am now, so I apologize for my delay in visiting and responding.

I absolutely adore the image you've posted with this - it reaches deep into the soul.

The poetry is remarkable - I think it taps into the inner (and outer) desires of humanity.

Hello Wendi

I've been having a few Orble difficulties myself....I'm subscribed to your list as well, but I'm a bit behind with comments I'm afraid...but I will get there

I also love the image, to me it has the elements of life we need in one peaceful picture.

Thank-you for your comments on the poem, I appreciate it. I'm glad it is affecting to others as well as myself.

No sweat! No pressure. I'm not going anywhere and you're not held under any obligations. It's all good!
